Bentley has been Katie's best friend and partner for years. He was the first horse to go through her training program. Before Katie bought Bentley he had suffered a series of abscesses due to hoof trauma that were untreated and let debris enter his hoof. The wall of his hoof had to be removed from toe to coronary band, one vet even advised euthanasia due to the extent of the injury. During his recovery, Bentley suffered chronic lameness and was on stall rest for a year. Bentley's hoof issues were supposed to haunt him for the rest of his life with recurring lameness and he was never supposed to be able to go without being shod. However, Bentley has fully recovered and is completely sound! Katie has successfully shown him in hunter/jumper, western pleasure, pleasure driving, trail, and low level eventing. They have shown at the local, 4h, and USEF A rated level. They have won many blues and championships together. In 2006, Bentley and Katie joined the Washington College Equestrian Team in the Centerville, MD Christmas parade. Not only is Bentley versatile but he truly enjoys his many talents and practicing them. Brideless is his favorite.
